Cade Cooper

The following is a story that first appeared at BYU's athletics site, www.byucougars.com. According to the BYU Athletic Communications Department, Cade Cooper has decided to transfer from BYU.

BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall today announced junior quarterback Cade Cooper will transfer from BYU.

"I understand and respect Cade's willingness and desire to compete. He's an outstanding young man," Mendenhall said. "We hope he can find a program where he will be able to make a valuable contribution and lead a team."

Cooper transferred to BYU following the 2006 season after being named the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year at Snow College. Cooper led the Badgers to a No. 2 national ranking with an 11-1 record. The native of Lehi, Utah, threw for 3,103 yards last season, completing 31 touchdowns.

Cooper suffered a season-ending injury during spring camp and will be unable to compete this season.
