Todd Watkins Pulls Trigger; Commits to BYU

BYU's No. 1 junior college wide receiver priority, considered one of the best in the country, committed late this afternoon to BYU and will fax his official Letter of Intent (LOI) tonight to Provo, TotalBlueSports.com has learned.

Todd Watkins, an exceptional First Team All-American receiver at 6-3, 185-pounds with blazing 4.28 40 speed, confirmed his remaining questions were answered by BYU assistant coach Lance Reynolds and "I pulled the trigger. He (Reynolds) was really happy and I got a call a little while later from Coach Bradford (Cougars wide receiver coach) and he was real excited as well.

"I'm ready to get started. I'm really looking forward to our first game against SC (Southern California Trojans in Provo). My brother (Travis, a reserve junior offensive guard for USC) and my friend Reggie Bush (starting running back) will be on the other side. It's going to be a fun game," Watkins said.

A mid-year transfer who will begin school next week in Provo, Watkins was recently honored as Grossmont's Offensive Player of the Year as a wide receiver and kicker; named to the Junior College Athletic Bureau's and J.C. Grid-Wire's First Team All-American teams; honored as Region III Offensive Player of the Year; and was named as First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference.
