Recruiting Update: Brandon Rice

2016 running back prospect Brandon Rice, out of Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas, has received two new scholarship offers to go with his offer from BYU. The junior-to-be running back is taking his time with recruiting, but he said he still has BYU in heavy consideration.

BYU was the first to pull the trigger by offering Brandon Rice (Coppell, TX) a scholarship. Since then, the 5’11”, 190-pound running back has received two new offers to bring his current total to three.

“Things have been going great,” West said. “I just got two new offers. I got one from Eastern Michigan and Miami of Ohio, so now I have three total offers and I’m getting some interest from Indiana as well.”

Having attended BYU’s summer camp is this year, Rice is still holding BYU high on his list due to the experience he had while on campus with fellow Coppell players Charles West and Scott Huntsman.

“BYU is a school that I’m still really considering,” Rice said. “I’m just waiting things out to see what happens after my [junior] year, but I really liked it out there at BYU. Other than that everything is good.”

When asked about Charles West, who also has a BYU scholarship offer, and close friend Scott Huntsman, who is LDS and a BYU fan, Rice shared a brief update on his friends, who were with him during the BYU summer camp.

“They’re doing really well,” said Rice. “Scott [Huntsman] went out to Arkansas, Indiana, and Purdue to check out those schools [recently]. Charles [West] is doing well and he’s just been staying home and working out. We’re all just trying to get bigger, stronger, and faster. Everyone is doing well and we’ve all just been working out and stuff like that.”

The University of Indiana is showing interest in Rice’s abilities as a running back but hasn’t offered him a scholarship yet. With two more years to of prep ball to play, Rice is taking his time and seeing what offers come his way. When asked to list where BYU stands, Rice feels what BYU has to offer is among the best options he has.

“As far as BYU goes, that’s one of the better offers of any college that I’ve got right now, so, yeah, BYU is good. Everything is good right now, and, like I said, I’m just taking my time to see what comes along. I still have a couple of more years to play so I’m just taking my time.”
