Northeast Mississippi DT Lavon Hooks

(10/31/2012) A look at some of the top defensive line performances over the past week and which players are standing out for their team so far this season. This is by no means all-inclusive, but just a snapshot of some of the players who had big-time performances over the weekend...

Northeast Mississippi DT Lavon Hooks - In Northeast Mississippi's 24-3 win over Mississippi Delta, Hooks posted 13 tackles (six solo), five sacks and a forced fumble. For the season, Hooks has been a monster up front for the Tigers totaling 57 tackles, 18.5 sacks and 22 tackles-for-loss.


Snow DT Ofa Hautau - Hautau had a great game in Snow's 48-3 blowout of Eastern Arizona, posting six tackle, ½ a sack and two tackles-for-loss and earned WSFL Defense Player of the Week honors for his efforts. So far this season, the big, physical defensive lineman has posted 35 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss and six sacks.


Snow DE Jake Miller - Miller leads the Badgers in sacks with 9.5 and in tackles-for-loss with 15 while also posting 28 tackles. He posted three tackles and a sack in Snow's 48-3 win over Eastern Arizona.


Navarro DE Arnold Blackmon - In nine games, Blackmon has posted 45 tackles, 22 tackles-for-loss and six sacks.


Cisco DT Adam Curran - Burran leads Cisco in tackles-for-loss with seven, while also posting 20 tackles and a sack in five games so far this season.


Northeastern Oklahoma DT Alex Villareal - The Oklahoma State bounceback had an outstanding game in the Golden Norsemen's 26-24 win over Navarro last weekend, posting 11 tackles and one tackle-for-loss. While helping lead NEO to one of their best seasons ever, the redshirt freshman has racked up 54 tackles (23 solo) to go along with two sacks and two tackles-for-loss.


Dean DE Rashard Simmons - In Dean's 44-6 win over Globe last Saturday, Simmons was a real force off the edge, posting six tackles and three sacks. For the season, the sophomore has racked up 35 tackles and five sacks from his defensive end position.


Fort Scott DE Demetrius Hill - Hill has been solid for the Greyhounds this season from his defensive end position posting 53 tackles (38 solo), 15 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks.


Coffeyville DE Terry Jackson - Jackson has notched 39 tackles as well as a team-leading 10 tackles-for-loss and four sacks for the Red Ravens this season.


College of DuPage DE Tracey Key - Even though he's only played in four games this season, Key still leads the Chaparrals in sacks with five while also posting 11 sacks.


Ellsworth DE La'more Wise - Last week, Wise posted five tackles, two sacks and one tackle-for-loss, but the Panthers still dropped their game with Iowa Western by a score of 65-14. The talented freshman has shown a nose for the ball all season, racking up 35 tackles, five sacks and nine tackles-for-loss.


Copiah-Lincoln DE Terrell Hartsfield - In Co-Lin's 23-10 win over Southwest Mississippi last Saturday, Hartsfield posted eight tackles and three sacks. While helping lead his team to a 7-2 season, Hartsfield has racked up 40 tackles, five sacks and 8.5 tackles-for-loss.


Ventura DE Herbert Monroe - Monroe had a huge game for the Pirates as they clinched the National Division North Championship and ran their record to 9-0 for the year. Monroe had seven tackles (six solo), five tackles-for-loss and one sack. The sophomore leads Ventura with 7.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles-for-loss while also racking up 45 tackles.


Cerritos DE Kyle Peko - Peko posted seven tackles (four solo) and had 2.5 tackles-for-loss in Cerritos' 21-14 loss to Bakersfield.


Mt. San Antonio DE Pingi Moli - Moli posted three tackles, one sack and two quarterback hurries in the Mounties' 44-0 shutout of Long Beach last Saturday.


San Bernardino DE John Siliga - The freshman racked up five tackles (3 solo), 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble and one sack in SVBCs victory at San Diego Mesa, 47-31 last Saturday. Siliga has posted 31 tackles, 11.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks.

West Los Angeles DE Kaylyn Ayers - Ayers had 10 tackles (seven solo), four sacks and three quarterback hurries in West L.A.'s 82-7 win over L.A. Southwest. Ayers has been a model of consistency so far this season, posting 51 tackles, six sacks and 12 tackles-for-loss in seven games.


Butte DE Cortreal Scott - Scott posted eight tackles, ½ a sack and 1.5 tackles-for-loss while helping Butte post a 19-17 win over College of San Mateo. The sophomore has racked up 32 tackles, five tackles-for-loss and four sacks on the season while helping to lead Butte to a 7-1 record.


Santa Rosa DL Mike Tuaua - Tuaua continues to have a dominant freshman campaign for the Bear Cubs and has been solid since the start, posting 57 tackles and seven sacks.


Chabot DT Corey Faiva - Posted six tackles, one sack and one tackle-for-loss last week in Chabot's 40-33 win over Feather River last weekend.


Cabrillo DE Michael Schuhe - - Schuhe had a great game last week in Cabrillo's 23-7 win over Monterey Valley, posting nine tackles, 2.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles-for-loss. The sophomore leads his team in tackles (56), sacks (6.5) and tackles-for-loss (15) .
