Fontana (Calif.) Summit safety Justin Strong became the fifth player from the Inland Empire in the class of 2013 to commit to Oregon State.
Strong, a three-star ranked #55 at safety nationally, verballed to the Beavers on Saturday.
"I committed to Oregon State today," said Strong. "I spoke to all of the assistants and I told them I was hopping on board and I spoke to Coach (Mike) Riley last and that's when I committed."
Strong said the relationship with the coaches played a big role in his decision to pick the Beavers.
"Honestly, the personalities of all the coaches and the way their players play was what made them the pick," said Strong. "Last week, while I was playing my game at A.B. Miller, I look up and there is an plane flying over me in neon orange lights saying "Go Beavs" and that made me feel like family and a part of the program."
Strong said Joe Seumalo, the Beavers defensive line coach, was who recruited him among others.
And Seumalo has played a big role in the Beavers' efforts in the Inland Empire.
Strong joins Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Los Osos receiver Victor Bolden, Etiwanda (Calif.) receiver Jordan Villamin, Rancho Cucamonta (Calif.) receiver Jermel Walker and Murrieta (Calif.) Murrieta Valley safety Terin Solomon in committing to the Beavers out of the I.E.
"I'm relieved to get it over with," said Strong.
